Interocean Group has formed a new joint venture with Baku-based Green Line Shipping, strengthening the Group’s long-term presence in Azerbaijan and the wider Caspian region by pairing Interocean’s international standards with strong local delivery capability.
The venture is being established through Interocean Energy Services FZCO, an Interocean Group company, working alongside Green Line Shipping LLC in Baku. For Interocean, the agreement is a further step in the Group’s ongoing expansion across key maritime and offshore energy markets, and supports its broader strategy of combining global standards, governance and technical expertise with strong in-country delivery. It also expands the Group’s ability to pursue and deliver opportunities across maritime, offshore energy, marine assurance and integrated asset solutions.
Green Line Shipping LLC is a Baku-based maritime services and offshore engineering company, providing ship management, vessel chartering, marine engineering, ship repair, consulting, training and project delivery across Azerbaijan, the Caspian region and international markets. Interocean says the partnership brings together its international standards and offshore experience with Green Line Shipping’s local knowledge and established delivery track record — giving the Group a stronger regional platform for existing and future client relationships.
Founded in 2007, Interocean Group is now headquartered in Glasgow and operates across 17 countries. The Group maintains a UK operational base at City South Business Park in Portlethen, Aberdeen, with its holding and services companies registered at 2 Marischal Square, Broad Street, Aberdeen. The Caspian venture is being led for Interocean by Group Chief Commercial Officer Alex Clark, who is Aberdeen-based.
It’s worth noting this is a strategic, non-equity collaboration and joint venture framework — not a merger or acquisition of either business. Interocean is contributing international experience, technical capability, governance, project delivery systems and integrated asset solutions expertise, while Green Line Shipping brings local market knowledge, operational support, stakeholder engagement, logistics coordination and regional client interface capability. Opportunities will be evaluated jointly where there is mutual strategic value and a clear benefit to the client, with delivery models and governance agreed on an opportunity-by-opportunity basis.
For Interocean’s teams, the partnership means better access to local support and operational capability in Azerbaijan and the Caspian region, a stronger position to pursue regional tenders and strategic opportunities, more in-country support for logistics, stakeholder engagement, permitting and mobilisation, and a greater ability to offer clients integrated solutions that combine Interocean’s expertise with local execution.
