> How long have you been part of the Interocean team, and what initially inspired you to pursue a career in Human Resources?
I have been part of the Interocean team for two years. Since graduating from law school, my roles have been within Human Resources, as my strong understanding of employment and constitutional laws naturally aligned with HR functions.
This background inspired me to pursue a career in HR, where I can apply my legal knowledge to support people, ensure compliance, and contribute to building a positive workplace environment.
> In your role as Human Resources Coordinator, what does a typical day look like, and what aspects do you enjoy most?
A typical day in my role as HR Coordinator is quite dynamic. I prioritise any urgent employee or management requests, then, throughout the day, I handle a variety of HR tasks, including onboarding, timesheet reviews, payroll coordination, visa and documentation processing, and supporting employee relations matters. I also work closely with different departments to ensure HR processes run smoothly and that everyone is supported.
What I enjoy most about my role is the opportunity to help create a positive and supportive work environment. I really enjoy solving problems, guiding employees through processes, and ensuring compliance using my legal background. Every day brings something different, and I find it rewarding to be part of a team that supports both the organisation and its people.
> Can you tell us about your experience supporting HR operations in a fast-paced or project-based environment?
I’m experienced in supporting HR operations in fast-paced and project-based environments, where priorities can shift quickly, and deadlines are often tight. Part of my role has been helping secure the right people for each project – making sure we find candidates who have the right skills and fit well within our culture. I work with project managers to understand their needs, then take action, everything from preparing job descriptions to screening and coordinating onboarding so projects can start smoothly.
I’m also involved in the bidding process. This includes meeting client or tender requirements and keeping HR records accurate and well-organised to make sure submissions are complete and competitive. It can be detailed and time-sensitive work, but I enjoy contributing to successful bids.
Working in these environments has taught me how to stay organised, keep calm under pressure, and adapt quickly when plans change.
> What drew you to working in the offshore, marine, and renewables sector, and how has that shaped your HR approach?
How dynamic and fast‑moving the industry is. There’s always something happening, and the work involves people from all over the world, which makes every day interesting. I enjoy constantly learning, whether about safety requirements, mobilisation processes, or the unique challenges of operating offshore. It’s a field that rarely sits still; that energy is something I’m drawn to.
The sector has shaped my approach as I’ve learned to be flexible, quick to respond, and very detail‑focused, especially because roles depend on the right certifications, compliance checks, and tight project schedules. It’s also strengthened my communication skills, because coordinating with different teams, departments, and external partners is a big part of keeping things running smoothly.
What I appreciate most is the sense of purpose, especially on the renewables side. Knowing that my HR role contributes to impactful projects motivates me. It pushes me to make sure processes are smooth, supportive, and aligned with the pace of the industry.
> Can you share an example of a challenge you’ve faced in your role and how you successfully navigated it?
During our expansion in Dubai and Singapore, when the number of teams increased and the demand for HR support grew, we were dealing with multiple new project requirements, tight mobilisation timelines, and different local regulations – all while maintaining standards for existing teams.
To navigate this, I focused first on organising and prioritising the workload by creating clear tracking systems for each team, including their mobilisation dates, visa needs, documentation status, and project-specific requirements.
I also strengthened communication with project managers and team leads. Regular check-ins ensured that I understood their immediate needs, upcoming deadlines, and any changes in personnel or project scope. This made it easier to provide the right support without delays.
At the same time, I streamlined HR processes, such as onboarding steps, document collection, and CV formatting. By staying organised and proactive, I was able to meet the demands of all the new teams and ensure compliance and readiness for each project.
This experience taught me how to manage growth effectively and support multiple regional teams without compromising on quality.
> How do you effectively prioritise and manage multiple HR responsibilities when supporting different teams or locations?
By staying organised and keeping a clear overview of priorities. I usually start by listing all tasks and deadlines, then focus first on anything time sensitive, like mobilisation dates, payroll cutoffs, or urgent employee requests.
Good communication plays a big role. I stay in regular contact with team leads, so I always understand their needs and can respond quickly when things change. This helps me avoid surprises and keeps everyone aligned.
I also rely on simple but effective tracking tools to monitor documents, visas, onboarding steps, and project requirements. Having everything clearly organised makes it much easier to manage multiple locations at once.
> What approaches do you take to support employee engagement and wellbeing, particularly within a dispersed or offshore workforce?
I focus on keeping employees engaged and supported by making sure everyone, onshore and offshore, has equal access to all the right wellbeing tools, HR support, company benefits, and information, and I encourage everyone to reach out whenever they need help, so that no one feels left out.
Working closely with our HSEQ Manager is a big part of this, too. Together, we support any wellbeing-related events, initiatives, or publications needed across the teams, making sure the information is relevant, easy to understand, and reaches everyone.
> Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Outside of work, most of my free time is currently spent working toward my next level of CIPD qualification, which keeps me quite busy.
Even so, I always make sure to find time to enjoy myself. I love meeting up with friends and family, going for walks when the weather is nice, and swimming, my favourite sport.
These moments help me recharge and keep a good balance alongside my studies and work.
